Reading time: 7 minutes.

Good morning. Welcome, especially if this is your first time reading Atando Cabos, and above all, thank you all for your time.

Seventy-seven years ago today, 50 countries signed the Charter of the United Nations

to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and

to reaffirm our faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small, and

to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained, and

to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom.

Seventy-seven years ago, all were good intentions, even if implementing them was not so easy. I cannot complain. In the country Where I live, the people have had an unprecedented era of peace. Others cannot say the same. Absolute peace is difficult as it is to reach an agreement. Does it is so complicated to consider us all with the same rights? There are many interests at stake, even when it’s our life and the people’s lives that are at risk.

A Charter was drawn up 77 years ago by people for people. For those who manage, deal with others, and make decisions for many, for all, so that we do not forget to put people at the core.

α The economy of content creators, the “person-centric” economy.

Size of creators economy

A month ago, Converkit, the email marketing provider, presented a report on the State of the Content Creator Economy in 2022.

There are few things more satisfying than creating something. Just ask the inventors of ready-made sponge cake doughs who base their model on this human trait. You feel a product is yours when the final result depends on you, by mixing the prepared ingredients and baking it, by getting your hands in the dough.

Therefore, in a digital context, besides being a topical subject, it is a matter that interests me. Here, I analyze it in detail to understand the scene, where I am, and where I can be.

What is the “creators economy” or the economy of content creators?

Azeer Azhan tells us in The Exponential Age that we live in an exponential age new forces define the market:

  • The network: people gather in virtual communities to share interests and promote the use of products and services.
  • Digital platforms: that connect communities with producers.
  • Intangible assets: the value is in the knowledge.

These three combined have given rise to the economy of content creators.

In the era of the internet, however, we entered the knowledge economy. Technology wiped out many traditional jobs, particularly in manufacturing and, before long, also in services. This developed into the creator economy, where people found a way to earn money by marketing their inane skills, hobbies, and interests online. The Influencer Marketing Hub. Creator Economy.

The content creators sector includes podcasters, bloggers and newsletter writers, creators of courses, apps, games, coaches, influencers, and designers.

People who, in general, want to earn an online livelihood from their passions. They create an audience related to their written content, video, images, or audio and monetize them with the sale of products or services, ads, affiliations, or donations from their communities.

Here you have ten key elements of the content creator economy in 2022.

⟶ Everything I don’t know

The Farnan Street Anti-Library

The library should contain as much of what you do not know as your financial means … allow you to put it there. You will accumulate more knowledge and more books as you grow older, and the growing number of unread books on the shelves will look at you menacingly. Indeed, the more you know, the larger the rows of unread books. Let us call this collection of unread books an antilibrary.

A full of books library makes us aware of what we don’t know, and we tend to underestimate opposed to what we know and overestimate.

My library serves as a visual reminder of what I don’t know.

⟶ When do ideas get easier to find?

Eric Gilliam analyses physicist Gerard Holton‘s essay and tells us that a favorable environment is needed for ideas to emerge in scientific development.

Holton says that innovation does not follow the linear process established by academia, and models the scientific progress creativity as a first-order problem where it is necessary to:

  • Boost open-ended research and exploratory branches over established silos and core lines.
  • Organize diverse and multidisciplinary teams as opposed to solo-person or solo-disciplinary researches.
  • Be patient and work with systems that will eventually lead (or not) to punctual hits against linear and predictable objectives.
  • Favor eccentric mindsets over ideas mainly guided by the established playbook.

⟶ To the point

When I cook, I am usually short of time with a process that grows even longer if I lack ideas and have to look up a recipe online.

Endless introductions, images, ads, and no time make me anxious and stressed.

Eventually, I finish by skipping half the steps and making up for the rest with an unpredictable result.

An innovation or a disaster?

Usually, more of the latter, I end up longing for the yellowed recipe books where quantities were measured by “bits”.

Thanks to Majas I found Just The Recipe“, a website that takes the straw away and simplifies the recipe.

The tool extracts the ingredients and steps data from the original recipe via web scraping and generates an optimized page. However, it still needs some tinkering. Worked well with Directo al Paladar but messed up the ingredients in El Comidista recipes.

In any case, I think it is an excellent improvement with almost half of my “disaster” solved.

⟶ Do you want to learn automatic learning in the “Wordle” way?

Bnomial challenges with a new machine learning question every day. No worries if you don´t score. You will keep learning through clear and complete explanations and insightful references.

I already play. Are you up for it?

⟶ Do you know what shrinkflation is?

I said it before and will repeat it. I love English! Or rather, the ability of the English to invent words that unify current concepts and that, for lack of a better one in other languages, we end up using all over the world.

Are you familiar with Brexit, webinar, brunch? Now comes the turn of shrinkflation, a term that I met through Morning Brew.

Here is my definition until the RAE (Spanish Royal Language Academy) considers it:

From English: shrink and inflation.

n. Phenomenon by which the size of a product is smaller while maintaining the price.

Yes, just that feeling you are a kind of Alicia when you buy something you have been buying all your life and, with a change in packaging or simply in weight, you realize that it has shrunk, or you have grown. Nowt you know it is not just a perception. It is a reality with the current crisis we are finding more and more.
